Which plants are pesky enough to be considered "weeds" and why? When is a plant considered invasive? Join us to learn how invasive species professionals distinguish between ubiquitous plants we think of as 'weeds' vs. the non-native invasive plants that threaten Alaska's fish and wildlife habitat.
Explore alternative uses for those weedy species in your yard and garden and ask questions of an expert. Get introduced to Alaska's invasive plant ranking system (UAA Center for Conservation Science AKEPIC) and learn how it helps inform invasive plant management at a regional scale. Presented by Katherine Schake, coordinator of the Kenai Peninsula Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area. Free. Registration required; virtual meeting information included in confirmation email.
