Enjoy an Anchorage Design Week special guest presentation by famed local researcher and historian David Reamer, presented by the NeighborWorks Alaska. The History of Fairview: Anchorage's Inconvenient and Controversial Island of a Neighborhood will highlight the evolution and goings-on in one of Anchorage's most vibrant neighborhoods. David will lead audience members on a journey through the creation of the neighborhood, the elimination of the Black neighborhood at the Flats during Urban Renewal, the expansion of Gambell and Ingra and its impacts on neighbors, and the demonstrated resilience and strength of Fairview's active residents.

About the Speaker
David Reamer is a historian who writes about Anchorage. His peer-reviewed articles are frequently published in the Anchorage Daily News and include topics as diverse as baseball, housing discrimination, Alaska Jewish history and the English gin craze. He’s a UAA graduate and nerd for research who loves helping people with history questions. He contributes to publications and posts daily Alaska history on X and Instagram as @ANC_Historian.
