The P-39 was an early American WWII fighter aircraft used in the South Pacific and the Aleutians with limited success. The P-39 was provided to the Soviet Union in large numbers during the Lend-Lease Program and considered a highly successful aircraft for the Red Air Force in The Great Patriotic War, the Soviet term referring to most of the Eastern Front of World War II.
