Slow Craft Film: The Nettle Dress
6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4
Seed Lab, 111 W. 6th Ave.In-Person Event
Join “slow crafters” for a screening and conversation around the documentary film, The Nettle Dress. The film follows textile artist Allan Brown as he spends seven years making a dress by hand just from the fiber of locally foraged stinging nettles. Called “Hedgerow Couture” by Brown, it is the greenest of slow fashion and his medicine. It is how he survives the death of his wife and finds a beautiful way to honor her. It is a modern-day fairytale and hymn to the healing power of nature and slow craft. Participants will enjoy a short Q&A from the director, plus prompted conversation within the attending community. Free, Registration required.
Kicking off Slow Craft Week at Seed Lab, this is the first gathering of a week of workshops highlighting slow craft, repair and community.
