In Context: On Saskinam Tanamlan

4 – 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26

Reynolds Room, First Floor, East Wing

In-Person Event

The social injustices faced by the Saskinax̂ people at the hands of Russia, Japan and the United States are many and deep-rooted. Helena Schmitz sheds light on the historical colonization that has inflicted wounds on this small group of individuals who once were in the thousands, leading them on a path to seek retribution and healing from these governments. Through their journey to challenge the injustices imposed upon them, the Saskinax̂ demonstrate resilience and determination in confronting the legacies of the past.

Join us as we explore the inspiring story of the Saskinax̂ and their quest for justice, inviting us to reflect on how we can support marginalized communities in their pursuit of healing and reconciliation. This talk includes an activity for crafting a bird harvesting tool.
