ABOUT THE ARTIST

Brian Walker II [he/him] is an Inupiat and Deg Hit’an mask maker in Anchorage, AK. Previously an apprentice to the esteemed Perry Eaton and Alvin Amason, Brian went on to intern with the Walt Disney Imagineering company and, in 2020, he obtained his BFA at the Institute of American Indian Arts. Growing up living off the land and being taught cultural traditions, Brian uses his identity and background to express Indigenous narratives. He attains his inspiration from invaluable life experiences as well as everyday encounters with the animals and people of Alaska.
