This event has ended. It was scheduled for 2/21/2024.

2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21

Seed Lab, 111 W 6th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501

In-Person Event

In early 2024, the Fairview Community Council and NeighborWorks Alaska are kicking off the U.S. DOT Reconnecting Communities planning project to bring community-led solutions to revitalize the corridor. This will be a multi-year process to build a public vision and the political will to finally reconnect the neighborhood.

This workshop will welcome special guest Chuck Marohn of StrongTowns.org to lead exercises in collaboration with the Reconnecting Fairview project team to discuss and envision potential economic development and active transportation solutions that support the Fairview neighborhood, while considering community-wide use of the Gambell and Ingra corridors. The Reconnecting Fairview project is an effort to work in collaboration with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (AKDOT&PF) to influence and shape the ongoing "Seward to Glenn Connection PEL."

FREE. REGISTRATION REQUIRED. SPACE IS LIMITED.

Registered professionals seeking Continuing Education credits who attend the Workshop will receive a certificate from the Anchorage Museum for 1.5 professional development hour as documentation for State of Alaska licensed landscape architects, architects, engineers and surveyors.

This event is made possible with support by NeighborWorks Alaska in collaboration with StrongTowns.org and the Alaska Design Forum. Anchorage Design Week is a member of World Design Weeks.
