Vital & Creative: Paper Art Decoupage For Ages 55+

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21

Discovery Center, Art Lab

In-Person Event

Découpage, derived from the French word "découper" meaning "to cut out," finds its roots in East Asia, with artisans practicing similar techniques as early as the 12th century. Lacquer work from East Asia that gained popularity in Europe in the late 17th century is what we tend to associate with today’s découpage. With such a long and varied history, it is not surprising that découpage is still evolving with new styles. With découpage, recycled items like bottles, cans, and containers can become beautiful home decor.

Vital & Creative is a series of creative materials explorations, for adults ages 55+. Join museum staff in a fun workshop practicing découpage in its simplest form; paper cutouts are reassembled, designed and glued to a surface. Participants are encouraged to bring their personal items that could use some extra flair.

$15 materials fee, includes museum admission. Space is limited, registration required.
