Anchorage: Maps and Place Names

Through the two primary sources, Canoe Brand Canned Red Salmon Label and the Automated Fish Butchering Machine, students will build knowledge about how Alaskan canneries have influenced Alaska Native land and harvesting rights, and impacted human migration and immigration in Alaska. Students will learn about the representation of Alaska Native peoples over time in commercial print media.
