Paola Pivi: Lies, Lies, Lies

Lies, Lies, Lies is an immersive, multi-media installation by artist Paola Pivi, composed of dozens of television screens and a sound system, installed on the museum’s fourth floor. Visitors experience the artwork by entering a structure made of screens, which surround them on all sides, above, and below. More than 40,000 different images from around the world appear randomly every 3 seconds, one on each screen, while a sound system plays a human voice reciting numerous “lies.” The “lies” range from obvious and engaging to dubious and obscure, and include historical lies of political relevance.

The effect of Paola Pivi’s Lies, Lies, Lies symbolizes the seemingly endless amount of content many of us consume every day through screens and the confusion created by the spread of lies through mass communication.
