Arctic Aligned
May 3 – Sept. 2, 2024
Education Wing, First Floor
The Anchorage Museum’s Teen Climate Communicators are Anchorage-area 9-12 grade students who share a passion for considering climate and climate action with critical and inquisitive minds. Using museum artworks and objects as inspiration, and museum staff and community experts as resources, teens investigate and discuss climate change in Alaska and the North, including topics like food systems, reuse, and sustainability.
Arctic Aligned is the culmination of the reflections and experiences of the Fall 2023 teen cohort, which focused on climate change, polar regions, and why they matter. Through memes, journal entries, collage, images, and text, the teens help voice their generation’s thoughts about climate change and ideas around care for the Arctic.
Arctic Aligned features work created by Teen Climate Communicators Braylon Joseph-Mosely, Elizabeth Tamas, Ellenia Dommek, Larissa Eknaty, Taralynn Chesley Agnacuungaq Agluryaq-Calista, Makenna Offrink, Thea Larae Offrink, Zaiden Joseph-Mosely and Zoe Hartlieb. All content, label text, and materials were created and written by the teens.
