Theresa Woldstad
Thresea Woldstad is a Coast Salish/Kootenai Indigenous artist currently living and working between Juneau and Fairbanks, Alaska. With a background in biology and fisheries management, as well as a recent MFA from the Native Art Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Woldstad’s practice is a deep investigation of Indigenous artmaking–from materialprocess to contextualization within contemporary society and Western art history. Through years of work as a field researcher for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Woldstad possesses a deep knowledge of regulation and permitting required for the harvest of Alaska Native art materials. In fall of 2022, she will be an artist-in-residence at Bunnell Arts Center in Homer, Alaska, where she will organize a symposium and working group with the purpose of supporting Alaska Native artists in their harvest and art practices.
